Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs

This is switch up of the BBQ sauce I used for my Smoky Buffalo Wings Recipe

You do not need to be a master griller to make BBQ Ribs.  No fire, no smoke, just a regular oven at home and you will be able to serve up slabs of juicy tender ribs.

BBQ Ribs

OVEN-BAKED BBQ RIBS

Ingredients:
 1 kg, Pork Ribs

Spice Rub:
1 tbsp, Onion Powder
2 tbsp, Garlic Salt
1 tbsp, Paprika
1 tsp, Chilli Powder or Cayenne Powder (optional)
1 tsp, Five-Spice Powder (omit this if this is not available)
1 tsp, Black Ground Pepper
2 tbsp, Brown Sugar

BBQ Sauce:

Direction:
  1. Trim off the membrane on the back of the ribs using a sharp knife.  See this video on how to do it.
  2. Pat dry pork ribs.  Rub dry spice mix on both sides of the ribs.  Refrigerate overnight.
  3. Pre-heated oven at 165ºC for 10 minutes.  Put ribs on a metal rack oven a baking pan. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes.
  4. Remove ribs from oven and brush BBQ sauce generously on both sides of the ribs.  Cover pan with foil and continue to bake at 165ºC for another 1 hour 15 minutes.
  5. Remove ribs from oven.  Switch oven to grilling function.
  6. Remove foil, drain excess fats from baking pan.  Brush on more BBQ sauce on both sides of the ribs.  Return pork ribs to oven and grill until caramelize uncovered, watching over closely.
  7. Serve ribs with remaining BBQ sauce.

Tips:
  • Instead of baby-back ribs, you could substitute with less expensive cuts like side ribs.
